In July 2026, UVA Engineering joined the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a national network of engineering schools committed to teaching an entrepreneurial mindset.
The move builds on the school’s already deep entrepreneurship infrastructure: the Engineering Business Minor, a Technology Entrepreneurship concentration, VentureForward team grants and the Coulter Center for Translational Research. Engineering is the source of 31% of the faculty ventures tracked by Enterprise Studio — second only to Medicine.
